Steve:

Hello returning happies and new listeners. So this is Steve Bennet-Martin, and this

Stephen:

is Stephen Martin-Bennet. And welcome to

Steve:

a lifetime of. The podcast where we take you on our journey through some of the movies, TV shows, and other events of pop culture that are helping to keep us happy. We'll hopefully bring a smile to your face along the

Stephen:

way. And today we're continuing final girl, February, whether you are ready for it or not with the 2019 film ready or not. You see what I did there. I see you,

Steve:

what you did there. First, my love what's been making you happy.

Stephen:

So we discovered, and I can't take credit for it because it has been all over social. But the Showtime show yellow jackets. Yes.

Steve:

That has been fantastic.

Stephen:

So it's for anyone that's not in the know. Well, yellow jackets is about a wildly talented high school girls soccer team who become the unlucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the Canadian wilderness. It stars Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, and Juliette Lewis. As adult counter parts of the teenage teenage girls and with a special shout out to Jasmine Savoy brown from scream five who plays one of the teenage girls?

Steve:

Yes, I've really been enjoying it. It certainly is giving very like last virus.

Stephen:

Yeah. Like the more we watch, I'm like, wait a minute. That's new and, oh, that's weird.

Steve:

And we have three more episodes left in the season, but you can fully stream the entire season now on

Stephen:

Showtime. And the good news is it's coming back for a

Steve:

season two will a better cause I doubt it's going to wrap everything up in a nice little, nice little bow over the next three

Stephen:

episodes. And I also give most anything. That finds a way to bring Christina Ricci back to our televisions.

Steve:

Yes. She's been wonderful in it. That crazy bitch. Yeah.

Stephen:

Yeah. For once. Juliette Lewis, isn't the crazy one. She's not, what about you? My darling, what's been making you have

Steve:

well, yellow jackets as well, but also I am all caught up with manifest. I talked about the show and how I was starting it a couple of episodes back and I am all caught up and very little. Similarly with all of the lost vibes of having mysteries left up in the air. I am glad to see that it is being renewed by Netflix for the final season, so that we can get all the answers because it ended with more questions than answers. Like most finales, of course it did. So I can't wait for them to wrap it all up in a nice little.

Stephen:

Wonderful. But today we're talking about reading or not. Why do we love ready or not? Because it

Steve:

is just a very fun horror movie. There are hard movies that are scary. There are hard movies that are funny. This manages to give you a little bit of both and it, and it's just that perfect blend of comedy horror that we love, like Metta slashers, so to speak and it's well acted well produced. Great cast, surprising. Deaths and surprising twists and turns throughout it all. And that ending. Oh, Madame day.

Stephen:

Yeah. Everything you said, like it was just one of those movies. The trailer looked fantastic. And the movie lived up to it and beyond yes.

Steve:

Yes. Because for those not in the know ready or not as a movie about a young woman who on her wedding night is tasked by her in laws to play a game. And it turns into a deadly game of hide and seek. Would you like to play a game? Yeah, pretty much. Any movie where they ask you that question? The answer should be no. No, I do not. Thank you very much.

Stephen:

Well tell us a little bit about. What it is?

Steve:

Well, it is a 2019 American comedy horror film directed by Matt, that Nellie old Penn and Tyler Gillette, collectively known as radio, silence, and written by guide music and our Christopher.

Stephen:

Now the pair of Batonelli open and galette they directed scream five or screen 20, 22 as well as the critical darling and absolutely wonderful film.

Steve:

VHS. Yeah. Yes, they are brilliant as is Busak who also wrote scream five while Murphy wrote castle rock on.

Stephen:

And wonderful news for fans of scream five, there's going to be a scream sex and the creative team of that Nelly up open gullet and Buzik are coming back.

Steve:

Excellent. Cause they did a killer job on the last one. Yes.

Stephen:

Now this stars Samara weaving as grace, Adam Brody as Dana. Mark O'Brien is Alex Henry's journey as Tony and Andy McDowell as Becky. We know that some of

Steve:

those names. Yes. A lot of them actually, we love are weaving in the babysitter and nine perfect strangers. And she was in one of the shownotes episodes or the after episodes for my dad wrote a porno where she admits like, reveal that she's like a huge, giant, super fan of the podcast, like knew more about all the seasons and books and characters and see. And she's like, sign me up. If you ever make a movie of it. I love my dad wrote a porno. I love some art weaving and it made me just love her even more.

Stephen:

If I know she's not British or a brunette, but I think that she could be a fantastic Belinda blank. Yeah. Yes.

Steve:

Well, she is Australian actually, and has like a very thick Aussie accent.

Stephen:

I didn't know that that's fantastic because we've only seen her playing

Steve:

American roles. Yes. And we also know Mark O'Brien her husband in the movie. He was captain marks and arrival, the supernatural thriller with Amy

Stephen:

Adams. Another role where Amy Adams does a fantastic job and doesn't win the Oscar.

Steve:

Yes. Now we also know Adam Brody is Seth from the OSI

Stephen:

yup. Henry's journey from revenge and sharp objects. And I love Andie MacDowell from Groundhog day as Rita. And she was also an in sex lies and videotape in the eighties. Yes.

Steve:

And so with this great cast, what happens in the movie?

Stephen:

Not much, it's a game of duck, duck goose. That's not,

Steve:

it starts with a young Daniel hiding his brother in a closet as a man in a tuxedo approach, approaches SIM pleading for help that they're trying to kill them.

Stephen:

And Daniel helps him just kidding. He doesn't, he screams he's

Steve:

in here. Yes. We find that then the people who are hunting them as Daniel's mother and family who captured him as the bride screams. No, but she quickly resigned herself to her, obviously. Husband's fate.

Stephen:

Yeah. And. Just start off like that, you know, you're in for

Steve:

something. Yes. You certainly do. It does then a flash forward to 30 years later where grace is preparing her vows, that she lights up a cigarette and laments that Alex's family is rich, but doesn't approve of. He doesn't care because he says they're horrible people and even offers her a last minute way out, which she refused it. Yeah.

Stephen:

Alex is the prodigal son of the LA Domus gaming dominion. He and grace had been together for 18 months, but he's been estranged from his family. For longer than

Steve:

that. Yes. We then meet the family Daniels, the alcoholic jokester over brother, while his wife charity has a gold digging bitch. She's the worst. Yes. Tony is the stereotypical rich patriarch saying Alex could do better while his wife and Alex's mom, Becky appears to be the only approachable bond, you know, having a cigarette with like her mother-in-law's like cigarette case and

Stephen:

honey, they didn't accept me when I came on. Yes

Steve:

exactly. There are many comments of people asking, is she one of us or saying she'll never be one of us

Stephen:

and aunt Helene scales during the entire

Steve:

process and the entire movie. Yeah. Yes. Then grace and Alex do get married and it's beautiful wedding dress, but I found as the movie goes on and things get bloodier and disgusting. There are 17 different versions of her wedding dress that were created by costume designer, Avery clues to show the progression of Grace's night and how her clothes correspond to her attitude.

Stephen:

That's definitely. And you can definitely see it happening. After the wedding, grace and Alex decide to be intimate and begin to fool around just as an Tylene, who is creepy. AAF has been sitting in their room, watching all of this happen because she came in through a secret corridor because of course to let them know that the family is waiting for them, Alex, then, and only then explains that at midnight, they have to play a game. When someone new marries into the family. And he's totally glossing over the details at this point.

Steve:

Yes. Alex goes ahead and while grace puts her game face on,

Stephen:

I love that. She said that, you know, I'm instead of printing, she's gonna put her game face off

Steve:

downstairs, Tony and Alex make a conversation where he says, I'm sure Mr. LaBelle is with us today. How much have you told her?

Stephen:

Nothing. And tomorrow we're gone.

Steve:

Tony warns, Alex, that if she pulls that card, he must be prepared to do whatever is necessary. Now, even if this was an innocent tradition, like even if it didn't possibly end up in a murder, your new spouse game, like what the fuck is up with him only telling her like then in there, after the wedding? Yeah. Like

Stephen:

if he knew, like there's a reason he left and all of this, this could have all been easily avoided. If he said, I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I cannot marry you. I, because if I do this is what's going to happen and she could be like, You know, whatever, I, I, I don't believe it, but fine. We'll we'll do th do it this way. And then they could have, you know, been domestic life partners forever and avoided this whole thing. Yeah.

Steve:

Yes. He is certainly selfish throughout it. He admits as the movie progresses that like he did it to keep her in his life so that she wouldn't leave him. And it was like all for him and being selfish. But yeah, if like on our wedding night, you were like, by the way, at midnight, we'd draw a card and play a game. Yeah, I would have been like that. Wasn't part of our wedding planner plans have to take a trip to new Orleans. Now this won't

Stephen:

work at midnight. Everybody draws, draws. The short straw dies. Hope it's not you,

Steve:

darling. Yes. That's a very interesting thing to keep from your spouse who you. I love so much. You want to marry? Yes. Now when grace meets up with the family, we learned through our conversation with Becky that she was a foster kid and that grace was the one who pushed Alex to come back into the fold of the family for her sake. Although he's avoided them for two years, because she's always wanting to have a quote unquote, real permanent family. Yes.

Stephen:

Now this next scene is one of my favorites. Coked out sister, Emily and her husband Fitch are late to the party along with her obnoxious children. Emil, Emily immediately says to grace, you're going to be a great addition to the family. And we here, he will decide that. And Emily turns towards Angelina said it and says so lovely to see you again, aunt Helene and aunt Helene holds nothing back and says brown haired niece, you continue to exist.

Steve:

Yes. And Emily definitely is one of the characters who brings the con comedic relief throughout the movie. Oh my gosh.

Stephen:

Yeah. And in a perfect way. It doesn't feel put on because from the moment you meet her, she's a hot mess. She's a hot mess. She's over the top. They're Uber wealthy. So it all fits. And you're not like, as you're watching it, you don't think, oh, she's the comic relief. Because you're

Steve:

like, well, that's just her. Yeah, exactly. Now at 11:55 PM, they are taken to the game room, which is for family only doo doo doo doo Tony monologues about how the Ladonna's family grew to success from playing cards to board games, to sporting equipment, to for professional sports teams. And it all started when great-grandfather met Mr. Labell on a merchant seaman voyage. And I can't hear the word semen without giggling because I am a child. On that trip. My grandfather solved the mystery of a game box and winning a LaBelle's financial assistance. And part of the deal is now when someone new joins the family, they put a blank card into the box. And Mr. LaBelle then decides which game they're at. Yep.

Stephen:

The in-laws chime in and we do have to mention that in law, Fitch is Dani from one of our favorite shows,

Steve:

orphan black. Yes, he certainly is. And when he joined the family, he got to play old maid. Like what the fuck is old mate? Yes. While bitch face had to play

Stephen:

chess. And unfortunately for grace, she draws heightened. And the room goes deadly silent.

Steve:

Yes. Grace is a little buzzed at the moment and gets a kick out of the idea of laughing as Tony explains the rules. And that our only way to win is to stay hidden until Dawn, which she's like, no, thank you. Yeah. Well, Tony never shares the fact that when they catch her, they kill her, which is in my, my opinion. When you're going over the rules of the game, the stakes is something that you want to include in it.

Stephen:

Yeah. I mean, just a little bit. Freeze tag. And did you get frost burn when you're, when you're tagged? I mean, those are types of things you need to know exactly.

Steve:

Now the enlarged or a super rich creepy hide and seek song is played as grace, drunkenly, stumbles down the hallway, trying to find a place to hide. And the family begins to weapon up before spreading out throughout the mansion. Now you recognize one of these weapons, didn't you?

Stephen:

So technically one of them you would call the revolver and it is a pepper box revolver. And. Hot mess. Emily is the one that gets to have it. And it's the same gun from the board game clue since 1972.

Steve:

Yes. Which of their weapons would you want? I want the cross.

Stephen:

Okay. I originally would've said crossbow, but if I can't have that, I want long-handled

Steve:

giant ax. Yes. She certainly looks like she's swung at a time or two.

Stephen:

Yeah. Cause it looks like the axes that executioners like would use back in the day. Yes.

Steve:

Now. They're spreading out throughout the mansion. It might look familiar to you because it was the same as the first X-Men movie, which we covered recently. Yeah. It's castle Loma in Toronto, Canada. It's designated as a heritage property and as a museum that you can actually tour, it's open to the.

Stephen:

My guess is that we saw a lot of special effects happen because my I'm guessing they're not allowed to set fires in the,

Steve:

no, they are not able to set fires in the mansion. They couldn't even install any new lighting into the mansion. So they had to use a five candelabra is that they move from scene to scene, to light the hallways. They also couldn't touch half of the decor decorations in some of the rooms that they were shooting because they had to be ready to open up for the museum the next day.

Stephen:

It, they picked a great place because if you're looking at something that is old money and by three generations, you are old money at that point. And the house definitely looks old money. Yes.

Steve:

Now grace gets tired of waiting in the dumbwaiter and Alex Polzer aside

Stephen:

scaring all of us because a hand comes out from nowhere and goes over her mouth.

Steve:

Yes. Well, isn't that how you always approach me whenever you need to tell me something. Usually, yes. Meanwhile, the maid or nanny is looking for one of the brats, Georgie and gets her face blown off by Emily out of the blue.

Stephen:

And so the family all comes in to the bedroom where actually. Grace and Alex are hiding. And so we hear this exchange that why did you shoot her in the face? You're only supposed to maim her because she has to be alive for the ritual sacrifice at before Dawn or something. Bad is going to happen to the. After all this grace is rightfully pissed at Alex for keeping this from her. And she's like you said, your family was fucked up, but you didn't say psycho killers.

Steve:

Yes. And then of course the one thing you always do in a horror movie is you split up. Yes. They split up so he can unlock the house while she looks for the exit. At what point in the relationship would have been the right time to tell her the secret, my love

Stephen:

whenever they. Decided that they were going to spend the rest like will you marry me? Yes, I will. My family worship the devil and we sacrifice we potentially sacrifice new people whenever they marry into the family. And then when we can't, we sacrifice goats. You still want to get married?

Steve:

Yes, exactly. Now. I love when Emily comes back into the bedroom, looks in the mirror and says, no more fuck ups. You're a winner. Got that. And then she snorts some more Coke. Yeah,

Stephen:

she, she is going balls to the wall with this, and

Steve:

it's a big change from, you're going to be so great. Welcome to the family

Stephen:

too. I shot her in the face. Yeah, that changed real fast. And so grace is still like going through secret passage is trying to get where she's going. She forgets where there Alex said, take a right or take a left. She takes a left, supposed to be right. And she stumbles out into the hallway where half the family are. And Emily can shoot for shit and starts firing off things. And Daniel and Tony, the dad start ducking and they're like, what are you doing?

Steve:

Yes. She then stumbles into Daniel who pours himself a drink and says he won't kill her, but he has to alert the family. So he gives her a ten second headstart and we can tell that, you know, his, heart's not in it. He says, this doesn't end well for you. I just don't want to be the one to serve you up.

Stephen:

And I like that. Yeah. Because you know, Our little boy from the OSI really wouldn't do that to someone. Yeah.

Steve:

Now the family meet up in the study where Emily shares that she lost her gun. Of course she did, you know, comes into play later. Fitch gives her the crossbow and as she's loading it, it goes off and impels. The second housekeeper through the head. And then I love that as they're trying to talk, she's like gurgling out. And so Angelina still fucking

Stephen:

chop her head off. But I also love that whenever they all find out about the first housekeeper maid slash nanny that they're like, oh, she was my favorite. Which, and they all look like Robert Palmer girls from the eighties music video with the black skin tight dress and the slicked back hair. So they decided to break the rules and resort to turning on the security cameras, despite it not being tradition. Well, gray suits up with a shotgun ammo sneakers and a rip dress. Severely

Steve:

bad-ass as you had pointed out that had, COVID not shut down the world that following Halloween, that would have been the Halloween costume for girls to

Stephen:

wear. Oh, 100%. Like, could you imagine you see like, even a really cool army of different girls of shapes, sizes, colors, all wearing tattered wedding dresses with ammo across their chest and high top sneakers like that.

Steve:

Yes, it certainly is. The grace then almost gets caught by the Butler as he's heating up a kettle while singing the 18, 12 overture while she's trying to load her gun.

Stephen:

And Alex is trying to figure out the controls for the security system to unlock the doors. And he's having a hard time with

Steve:

it. Yes. They have a Scooby-Doo type scene with a lot of high tension of the Butler, kind of looking around the island counter while she's moving around each corner. So that

Stephen:

just as he's looking at. She's not there anymore.

Steve:

Yes, eventually though she does kind of point the gun at him. And unfortunately he shares that the ammunition to our shotguns for display. But however, she does escape by breaking the pot of boiling water over his head. As she escapes, he deserves it. Yes. She tries to get into the dumbwaiter again, and this time she already finds the third and final mate who tries to rat her out and in doing so the dumbwaiter goes up and she's halfway in, halfway out and gets crushed to death. And at that point she had it coming and all three mates. I think that the maids were a great way to have the tension builds with like death's going through while still keeping all the major parties of the family, like intact through the movie as people were still dying.

Stephen:

Exactly. Because at that point, the family is still 100% intact and.

Steve:

Like, but is there enough for them to freak the fuck out at that

Stephen:

point? Yeah. And so every time one of the maids dies, they have to carry the body away. And I love that they're such a gaming family that they flip a coin heads or tails to see you. We'll carry the upper half of the body and who carries the legs. Like, that's just a neat little addition to the whole. They're a family of

Steve:

gamers now. And Helene shares that she was the one in the introduction who had lost her husband on her wedding day, 30 years ago. And that she sees a lot of herself in Alex you know, saying that, you know, he'll accepted it he'll come along. Grace then makes a run for it on the estate grounds and sees the flashlights. So she hides in the barn and the barn, it ends up it's that little fucker, Georgie who shoots her through her left hand, like directly

Stephen:

through the middle of the hand so that you can see a Burke whole. The middle of her hand is now gone. Shocking.

Steve:

Yeah. I was shocked. Yeah. She knocks him out. She punches him now. She's very funny. And then falls backwards into an animal carcass pit, which was disgusting. Yeah. So foul and that's where she finds the body of an Helene's husbands. So we know that that's where the family hides their bodies.

Stephen:

She crawls her way out of the pit, like a bad-ass as the ladder is breaking. And as her hand is slipping. Cause she's. Like using one arm to come up the ladder and she gets her hand up there and the letters breaking. She doesn't have. Any more purchase and she throws her into her injured hand up there and impales it right on a nail through the hole. That was shot

Steve:

out. Good thing. She's not a lefty

Stephen:

now. Daddy, Tony starting to lose it, sharing that they're all alive. They don't sacrifice grace before Don. You don't. Fuck Mr. Lavell. Mr. LaBelle fucks you.

Steve:

That's

Stephen:

gross, especially since he's a

Steve:

ghost. Yes. Now Becky sends the screw ups, Danielle and Emily to take the may to the goat pits and pumpkin try not to kill anyone.

Stephen:

That's just so good. You can tell that she has had to have, you know, these condescending conversations with Emily more than one center.

Steve:

Yes. Now, grace literally scrapes her way to get out of the fence through the car. With that, like the, her backside getting cut through the fence. That's just so gross. Oh. And

Stephen:

she had to keep pushing and that rod iron tearing through her, through her body. But she makes it out to the road.

Steve:

Yes. Only to have the guides. She was trying to flag down to say, fuck you get out of the road. And she's like, rich people are fucking the worst. And then she runs off into the woods. The Butler eventually catches up with her and they struggle, but grace uses a torn piece of her dress to choke them out and take. And funny thing, because I guess they're not big on driving in Australia. So Samira had never driven a car before, so she had to learn how to pretend.

Stephen:

That's so funny. Now she's trying to use like the, now they don't call it OnStar, but she's trying to use the OnStar. To call for help, but the family was really fast and had already reported this car stolen and fucking Justin from OnStar shuts down the car and the Butler didn't die when she choked him out and he catches up with her and he shoots her with a tranquilizer and loads her into the back of the car to take her back from the sacrifice. And so the Butler has the family on FaceTime and he's driving back to that. Listening to 1812 overture again and not, it'll be the death of, I'm not paying attention at all. Grace comes to kicks him in the head multiple times, all the family's like, look behind you, look behind you. And then the car wrecks flips over. And the family's all like, oh,

Steve:

Yes. Now after the accident Daniel finds her and admits he's weak while grace pleads for her life saying the practice in St. And nobody's going to die. If she gets away, Daniel knocks her out with the gun while Tony looks on, I feel like he did it because he knew that Tony was looking

Stephen:

on because he said, you know, I may be dumb, but I'm not

Steve:

blind. Yes. Now, with less than an hour before Dawn, do you believe this time of the movie first time through that? The ramifications would be the family dies.

Stephen:

Well, they told us about the van Buren or some other family that had all died in a house fire because they didn't play by the rules. They like, we have not seen anything supernatural happen as of yet because the card going in the box there's like there could easily be a little printer in there. We haven't seen it happen, but they believe it so severely that we, as the audience are left to question like, are we like going with what grace is thinking that these people were just fucking crazy? Or do we go with the family that are, if we don't do this, we're

Steve:

all dead. Yeah. And even this time, like the first time through the movie, I was like, there's no way they're going to die. Like, this is all just some fucked up rich people. Bullshit.

Stephen:

That like, honestly, I was, am like in the middle because you know, you have a whole family that, especially Tony and Helene are 100% believing that they will die. And you know, you kind of trust the older generation. So at that point I was kind of leaning towards something's going to happen. Oh, dear Lord. I hope she lives past on so we can see what

Steve:

happens. Yes. I still though, when they all started blowing up one by one, I was just giddy with just sheer shock, the most awesome way. Now back to the movie, Alex is reflecting that he's, that he ran not because he was afraid of the family's rituals and roles, but because they felt normal. You'll accept anything if your family says it's okay. Do you agree with that statement?

Stephen:

I think that you can definitely. Get to that point because like racism, racism is not, you're not born a racist, you're taught to be a racist. Yes. So you know, in most families you would say racism is not good, but people that are brought up with it and that's their family and that's what comes in. I'm not saying it's okay. But their family says it's okay. So they've accepted that. It's okay. So I'm not so sure about murder, but I can see a real world correlation with bigotry and hatred being taught through the family. Yeah,

Steve:

I certainly agree. I mean, pretty much like your family is the one, especially as you're growing up through your formative years, that like shapes you into like what the world is your moral compass. And so if your family like. Halloween was sacrificing goats. You're like every family sacrifices coats. Right. Right.

Stephen:

And I mean, especially like, obviously we know about the van something or others that we're probably doing it as well. So all these rich kids were like, well, maybe not, you know, the Smiths, they're just kind of wealthy. They're not super wealthy, super wealthy, like us in the van saw. We sacrifice goats. It's it's an upper echelon thing. Yeah. Yes.

Steve:

I would sacrifice goats if it made me in the upper echelon. I don't know about playing this game of hide and seek, but give me a goat and I'll cut it from grind to throat.

Stephen:

Yeah. But I, the whole sacrificing goats to Satan, I think the Satan part. Is where I would draw the line,

Steve:

I guess. So that's why I will never be rich. Sorry. Now the family is preparing for the ritual to Mr. LaBelle. While Alex tries to escape from his handcuffs.

Stephen:

And grace wakes up and she strapped to a table that has an upside down pentagram on it. And the families all in dark hooded cloaks, and they began chanting over her as

they

Steve:

pass the childless of a mysterious liquid that's blood. Yes. And just as Tony is about to grow, stab grace, his stomach rejects the hydrochloric acid that Daniel put in the blood that they all say.

Stephen:

And Daniel, after he helps grace get up, Daniel is confronted by a charity in the hallway who shoots him in the neck because in her mind she would rather kill her husband than potentially die from the curse. Yes,

Steve:

because he earlier he had mentioned like, he's like when I told you about the curse, you didn't even blink. She didn't know. Now grace knocks her out, but then it's confronted by Tony who she knocks out with an oil lantern that then spills setting one room on fire with the sure this, that it will spread. Cause we're in the climax

Stephen:

fines and holds Daniel as he dies while Becky and gray square off. And Becky screams, you don't deserve a family. Fuck

Steve:

your family before grace smashes, Becky Scullin with a magic game box over and over and over again. Yeah, exactly. Just as Alex finds her and he

Stephen:

tries to comfort her and she recoils. Yes.

Steve:

Rightfully so. Yeah. And she realized he realizes in that moment that they'll never be together. And so knowing or feeling like all hope is lost for them. He turns on her she's in here. And at that point I was like, you fucking little pre at,

Stephen:

because I kept thinking, you know, he's going to do the right thing, but he was only going to do the right thing. As long as he got a treat at the end, like a good boy and his treat was going to be grace. And once he realized he didn't get grace from all of them, He resorted to what his family had taught him.

Steve:

Yes. And they resumed the ritual with Alex leading it all screaming, hail Satan. Yes. He stabs her, but she moves just in time to make it non-fatal. Instead of taking the knife in the store. And Helene then realized that that stone, oh, it's lost. Forgive us at that moment. I was having real Hocus Pocus.

Stephen:

Yeah. And because she flings the curtain open and the sunlight is on them and they all start like backing away, like they're vampires.

Steve:

And at first, and I think it happens. So they're all beginning to wonder if it was all bullshit

Stephen:

after, and there's a couple of nervous laughs and things like that. And, and Helene decides she's going to kill grace just because, and as she's charging her. She explodes.

Steve:

Yes. And as the hide and seek records begins to resume, they begin to explode one by one while curious, that's just laughing. And at that point, that would be my reaction as well. I mean, the curse was real after all, and they're all going one by one, very hysterically and

Stephen:

Alex is scared and don't leave me. I don't want to die. Neither did I. You selfish.

Steve:

Alex is the last one to die just as grace asks for divorce.

Stephen:

And then Mr. LaBelle in a flash of fire appears in his chair to grace, meaning nods yup. And nods at her. And just watching them all explode with so healing, knowing that they're all getting what they deserve. I thought it was very interesting. That. So the two kids are obviously part of the curse because their blood family and the mother, Emily rushes the kids out into the hallway. And there are three explosions that we see from out there. So, you know, they don't show the kids

Steve:

exploding, but it happens off camera where we know that it happened. We at least had it coming

Stephen:

he's so attic coming and you know, Grace grabs Becky cigarette kit and goes outside, lighting it up as the home burns down and the paramedics arrived.

Steve:

Yes. And when the paramedic asks her what happened, her answer is in-laws. Yes. And what's the moral of the story of my

Stephen:

life. Fucking rich people.

Steve:

Yes. Rich people on their crazy ass bullshit. The

Stephen:

100%. We've seen this movie repeatedly now. Like we saw it in the theater, we got it. As soon as it came out on video, we've watched a couple of times there and then we watched it again for this. What do you

Steve:

think? I think it's an amazing movie and I think that grace has an amazing final girl.

Stephen:

Oh my gosh. Like, and I completely agree. The writing is amazing. The. Color schemes and stuff that the directors chose for the movie in that certain hue that you see throughout everything. And just the way they filmed it, like it's so well done. So like whenever they were announced as the directors of scream five, yeah. I had zero qualms. Like I was sure it was going to be good if the writer of this. And the directors of this, we're going to be taking care of the scream franchise. I knew we were in good hands.

Steve:

Yes. And so I definitely look forward to seeing what radio silence has in the future.
